A styled shoot with a twist... My story

I was first contacted by Angela Phillips of Perfect Timing Photography in the Autumn of 2018. She had seen my work online and wanted me to make favours for her upcoming styled shoot. I was honoured to have been asked and that my work was recognised and Angela wanted me to be part of her shoot. I asked her to send me a brief or mood board to give me an idea of style and colours. She was going for a feminine feel, but with the use of skulls too, but not gothic. I was intrigued as I had never seen skulls used at a Wedding. Angela was quite specific in what she was looking for and asked me to design simple favour boxes tied with burgundy ribbon. I also designed delicate tulles which added a soft touch.

The venue was the stunning Putteridge Bury in Luton. Putteridge Bury is a neo-Elizabethan manor house built in 1911 in the style of Chequers, with beautiful grounds and reflecting pool, with beautiful high ceilings and gothic windows. This was certainly the perfect backdrop for the style Angela was planning.

I went along on the day as I had never attended a styled shoot before and wanted to experience really being part of it. I met lots of lovely suppliers and made great contacts. The main breakfast table was set out with rich golds and reds lovingly created by the very talented Venue Styling By Sara with beautiful chiffon chair sashes. My favour boxes sat proudly on the table settings together with beautiful table stationary by Ever After Paperie. The table was also adorned with beautifully hand decorated skulls from Queen of skulls which I was so impressed with, they were beautiful and not gothic at all, they fitted in well. The flowers by Floral Art & Design added a rich array of autumn colours including feathers which added a quirky edge.

This was the first time I had met Angela and Colin and they were very professional and so lovely, they made everyone feel welcome and an important part of the day however big or small our contribution and detail.

I really liked the way that they made the most use of my favours and photographed them in different ways. They looked great on the table, but also got some lovely shots of the bride delicately holding them too. The lighting was perfect and they captured every detail.
