Read my story

Hello, I am Maria, designer and maker of bespoke artisan Traditional style Italian bomboniere and favours for Weddings, Baby shower, Christening, First Holy Communion and more.  Traditional in their story, yet creatively designed leading the latest trends. Here at Bomboniere, all of my collections are handcrafted using the finest materials and skills, working closley with you to create something unique for your special occasion, to encapsulate your theme, personality and venue, having made bomboniere for Weddings at the Dorchester, London, Hampton Court Palace and many more. I also have an off the shelf range ready to buy online, also designed by myself.

My designs and style for my favours have been inspired by the many Italian weddings and special occasions I've been to since I was a child. I've always created with the style and flair I have as an Italian that comes I guess from my Italian heritage being an English Italian this is carried through from our daily lives to our special occasions. Giving favours or "bomboniere" as they are known in Italy, is a big part of the day and a lot of time and care is spent in choosing them. Italian bomboniere have become more and more popular as wedding favours outside of Italy due to their uniqueness, delicate craftsmanship and beautiful design, making them the perfect choice for any wedding. Italian bomboniere have evolved through the years to keep up with trends and markets as people appreciate more the practicality of a bomboniera. Choose from a wide range of items to go inside your beautifully presented box and personalise with a name tag. Browse through our collections where you will be able to place your order and personalise your item.

The favour story

Favours or Bomboniere are the perfect way to say "thank you" to family and friends for sharing your special occasion. They can be given for different reasons, the most popular being Wedding, Birth, Baptism or First Holy Communion. Favours are also given for Confirmation, Graduation, Wedding Anniversaries and parties.
Traditionally favours contain five sugared almonds which represent: Wealth, Health, Happiness, Fertility, Longevity and  the colours of almonds used are important too. White is mainly used for Wedding, Holy Communion and Confirmation. Pink or blue for baby's Christening or baby shower, emerald green for Engagement, red for Graduation, Gold for 50th Wedding and Silver for 25th Wedding anniversary.

Wedding favours date back many centuries and are considered traditional at Wedding receptions by various cultures. In fact, it has been said that brides and grooms have been giving favours to their guests since the 16th Century. They are considered one of the most important wedding accessory needed to celebrate your big day and are well received by guests.  Originally they were only given by people in the upper class bracket. The French used to give out "Bombonieres" to their guests or "Bomboniera" as they are called in Italy. These were well presented boxes, normally made of crystal or porcelain and would contain bombons. Overtime the contents of these boxes have gone from bombons to almonds to sugared almonds and to the fantastic array and choice of presenting them that we have today.

Where you can find me

Over the years of being in the events industry, I have met and worked with some great expert wedding professionals and have been privileged to be featured in blogs, magazines and be listed on great planning sites and apps. I have also been part of some amazing styled shoots which has given me an opportunity to be creative with my designs and show the versatility of table favours and bomboniere.
